Signing the register indicates agreement to abide by the following rules:
All entries must be in place and be ready for judging starting at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 8.
The 2024 NAGC Classification List will be used in placing all entries.
All spike entries must be grown by the exhibitor.
Exhibitors may make as many entries as they wish in single spike, three (3) spikes and five (5) spikes sections provided the entries are different varieties.
All glad varieties must be correctly labeled with the name of the variety, floret size/class and color number. Youth exhibitors will not be required to have the name of the variety.
Stem lengths shall not exceed 17" for the 100 floret size, 18" for the 200 floret size and 20" for the 300, 400 and 500 floret sizes. The measurement is from the table top to the bottom of the first floret on the stem. Stems not meeting the length standards may be penalized at the judge's discretion.
5 Valleys Dahlia & Glad Society will provide containers for the single spike, three (3) spikes and five spikes exhibits. Exhibitors must provide their own containers for baskets, vases and patina exhibits.
Spikes will be judged by the DECORATIVE STANDARDS of the NAGC Judges Handbook which places more emphasis on the beauty of form, color, ruffling, usefulness and distinction of the spike and less emphasis on mechanical perfection.
Judge’s decisions will be final.
Judges will give 1st, 2nd or 3rd awards, if merited, in all sections.
The show committee reserves the right to reject any entry. The show committee may also make additions or changes in the rules which are deemed necessary for the proper conduct of the show. Any rules so made shall be binding as though they were a published part of these rules (they may not alter the judge's decisions).
Neither 5 Valleys Dahlia & Glad Society, the Missoula County Fairgrounds nor the NAGC will be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items.
Entry tags are provided by the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Each entry should be accompanied by a completed entry tag.
